9 Not-So-Popular Netflix Shows You Should Binge Watch Now
9 Not-So-Popular Netflix Shows You Should Binge Watch NowEveryone’s watched the mainstream shows breaking the internet (think: Narcos, Sacred Games etc) but don’t call yourself a serious Netflix binger unless you’ve watched at least 7 of these 9 underrated yet brilliant shows:
9. The Expanse
Set in a future where Mars has been colonised and the Asteroid belt has a whole community of workers living there and foraging for resources, The Expanse doesn’t disappoint. The show tackles many mature themes and sharp social commentary, so this one may just turn out to be your surprisingly-awesome binge watch for the weekend.
8. Castlevania
There aren’t many TV adaptations of video games that do well or are any fun to watch, but Castlevania manages to shine through. Based on a 1989 game of the same name, Castlevania follows the story of Trevor Belmont; a lazy-but-badass fighter defending the ancient region of Wallachia from Dracula’s wrath.
7. Godless
If you like gritty American westerns, this one should already be on your list. Following an outlaw called Roy Goode running from a gang of other outlaws he betrayed across pretty Southern American landscapes, the show is based in an all-women town of La Belle, where Goode is currently taking refuge in.
6. American Vandal
There are a bunch of true-crime TV shows with explicit details of violence and human psychology currently on air, though this one is not one of them. Serving as a parody of those shows with the same tone and style of filmmaking, American Vandal follows a high school student suspected of drawing obscene imagery on cars in the school parking lot. Watch this one for the laughs and expect some deep thinking along the way.
5. One Punch Man
What happens when a superhero is too powerful for any villain to pose any real challenge? One Punch Man explores that conundrum with dry humour and deadpan execution in this popular anime based on a popular webcomic. Saitama can pretty much deal with any danger – no matter how colossal – with just a punch, which forms the central joke of the whole series. It’s definitely not your usual superhero show, but more of a satire on the superhero genre in general.
4. Ozark
If you’ve been going through some Breaking Bad withdrawals, Ozark maybe something you definitely need to check out. After having to pay off a Mexican drug cartel a lot of money to escape getting murdered after a money-laundering scheme got wrong, Marty Byrde is finally trying to get his life back on track. Though as expected, that hardly ever goes according to plan.
3. Sense8
Sense8 is one of the few awesome shows (another one being The Expanse) on Netflix that got cancelled due to not having garnered enough mainstream fans, though we’d highly recommend you give it a try. It follows eight strangers from across the world who suddenly find themselves connected to each other’s thoughts, in the backdrop of a mysterious organisation actively trying to hunt them throughout its two high-octane seasons.
2. The Sinner
While not an underrated show in the US, the popularity of this dark murder drama hasn’t exactly carried over across the world. The show follows Harry Ambrose; a detective tasked with finding out the perpetrators behind a string of murder cases. It questions why ordinary people commit the horrifying murders that they do, and is as gripping as the description makes it out to be.
1. Peaky Blinders
Set in post WW1 London, Peaky Blinders portrays the daily lives and conflicts of, well Peaky Blinders; a real life London gang that existed during early 1900s London. There’s family, violence, retribution and noir fight sequences to binge on when it comes to this one, so don’t miss out.
