Sustainable Fashion And Meditation In A Basket!
Sustainable Fashion And Meditation In A Basket! In today’s times, mass produced high street fashion has changed the way we dress, but like most things we’ve done, this too has negatively impacted our landfills. There are tons of clothes that are discarded as new trends come and go, sometimes faster than Kim Kardashian’s repeated attempts at breaking the internet. Fortunately, people are now working towards making fashion sustainable.
Auroville, a fairly popular destination in Pondicherry is known for its sustainable living and a visit here is relaxing and rejuvenating. It is famous for its Matri Mandir, a golden sphere that allows you to enter and meditate in pin drop silence. You can get from point A to B on a hired cycle (good for you and the environment). And much like everything around, the clothes are sustainable, fair trade, good quality and most importantly, breathable. Now we’re not expecting you to head to Pondi just to shop (*though it really should be on your bucket list for so much more) so we’re letting you know - their entire catalogue is available online and for a change, there are just as many options for men and children as there are for women. Choose from dresses, billowy tops, rustic collared shirts, skirts, bags and shoes in materials like organic cotton, linen, silk and my personal favourite, bamboo (the pants are to die for).
Apart from clothes, they also keep eco-friendly bath products, food products, homeware, stationery and home fragrances.
You can visit their website here.
*If you are planning a vacay, this is the perfect destination. You can shop at their clothing store, enjoy food at the communal kitchen, cycle under a canopy of trees and of course meditate inside a beautiful golden globe.
I think it is time for us all to be mindful of our surroundings and do our own bit in adopting sustainable fashion if not living. Go green!
